Feed mature idle horses 0.4 – 0.8% of body weight per day. Horses in light work should be fed 0.5 – 1.0% of body weight per day, those in moderate work should be fed 0.6 – 1.2% of body weight per day, and those in heavy work should be fed 0.8 – 1.5% of body weight per day. Pregnant mares should be fed 0.5 – 1.5% of body weight per day. Lactating mares should be fed 0.6 – 1.5% of body weight per day. Growing horses 20+ months of age should be fed 0.9 – 1.5% of body weight. Amount required will depend on the horse’s activity level, body weight, and other factors.

Limit meal size to 0.5 lb per 100 lb body weight.

Feed in combination with a minimum of 1.0 – 1.5 lb of good-quality forage per 100 lb body weight per day.

Allow free-choice access to fresh, clean water and salt.
